About Rivet Support Services

Support that Fits Real Life

Rivet Support Services was created because sometimes counseling alone isn't what a family needs.

Sometimes you need someone to sit down with your teen and help them work through what they're facing. Sometimes you need support communicating with each other when every conversation seems to turn into an argument. Sometimes you're trying to navigate schools, healthcare, community services, or other systems and don't even know where to start. And sometimes you know your family needs something — you just aren't sure what that something is yet.

Rivet brings counseling and practical family support together, so support can be shaped around what's actually happening in your life. .

Rivet's Mission

Rivet Support Services provides accessible, trauma-responsive counseling and practical family support to youth, young adults, and families navigating life's challenges.

Rivet exists to bridge the gap between traditional counseling and real-life support by meeting people where they are — in the office, virtually, at home, or while navigating the systems around them.

The focus is simple: practical strategies, meaningful connection, and support that makes sense in everyday life.

Rivet's Values

Respect

Every person and family brings their own experiences, strengths, priorities, and understanding of what they need. I approach my work with curiosity, compassion, and without judgment.

Collaboration

Support works best when it's done with people, not to them. I work alongside youth and families to identify goals, explore options, and decide what meaningful progress looks like for them.

Integrity

I practise honestly, ethically, and within my professional scope as a Registered Social Worker. I'm transparent about what I can provide — and when another professional or service may be a better fit.

Accessibility

Getting support shouldn't be harder than the problem you're trying to solve. Rivet offers flexible options designed to reduce barriers and make support easier to access in real life.

Advocacy

Sometimes the person isn't the problem — the system is just really hard to navigate. I help clients understand their options, communicate their needs, advocate for themselves, and navigate complicated systems.

Connection

Relationships matter. Whether that means strengthening connection within a family or connecting someone with the right resources and supports, nobody should have to figure everything out alone.

Rivet's Impact

The goal of Rivet isn't for families to become dependent on professional support.

It's for youth and families to leave feeling more confident and capable of handling what comes next. That might look like better communication at home, stronger relationships, greater confidence navigating a difficult system, practical strategies that actually work, increased understanding of one another, or simply having a clearer idea of what to do next.

Rivet's impact is measured by meaningful progress in real life — helping people build the skills, confidence, connections, and supports they need to move forward.

What Makes Rivet Different?

Traditional counselling has an important place. But not every problem fits neatly into a 50-minute conversation in an office.

That's why Rivet offers something different.

I can work with a young person individually, support caregivers, work with the family together, help navigate outside systems, or provide practical support around what's happening at home.

That might mean helping a parent and teen communicate through a situation that's been going nowhere. It might mean figuring out what resources actually exist and how to access them. It might mean helping a family understand what's underneath a behaviour rather than simply trying to stop it.

The support changes because families and situations change.

You don't need to know exactly which service you need before reaching out. Figuring that out can be part of the process.

Counseling Isn't Always the Whole Answer

Traditional counseling can be incredibly helpful.

But sometimes the challenge isn't something that can be solved by talking about it for an hour and trying again next week.

Families may need someone who can help them apply strategies at home, work through communication as it's happening, navigate another system, connect with resources, or simply figure out what's getting everyone stuck.

That's the space Rivet was designed to fill- Counseling when talking helps. Practical support when doing helps. And often, a little bit of both.
